Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port: A New Chapter for Ogun State's Economic Development

The Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port, a proposed terminal project, is set to take shape along the Epe/Mojoda expressway in Ijebu-Ode, Nigeria. This development is part of a broader initiative to decongest Lagos seaports and boost national economic activity, as approved by President Bola Tinubu in January 2025.

The project, described as a critical enabler of industrialization and regional competitiveness by Governor Dapo Abiodun, is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs for youths in Ogun, Oyo, and other South-West states. The strategic location of the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port ensures equity, inclusiveness, and sustainable economic development across Ogun State's three senatorial districts.

The Ogun State Government has allocated 130 hectares of land for the project, following a request by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, on June 26, 2025. This allocation was announced through a statement on the official X account of the Ogun State Government.

Design consultancies for the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port are already ongoing, as disclosed by Minister Gboyega Oyetola during the 2025 budget defence in Abuja. The project is proposed in conjunction with the Gateway International (Agro-Cargo) Airport, and the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port will be linked to the Lekki Deep Sea Port by rail.

Furthermore, the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port will be connected to the Kajola and Moniya Dry Ports, as well as the Gateway Airport, creating an integrated transport and logistics network expected to significantly enhance the state's industrial clusters. This integrated network is part of a plan to balance industrial growth across Ogun State.

The Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port was approved in January 2025 by the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA). The project is a significant step towards the long-term modernization and competitiveness of Nigeria's maritime infrastructure.

The Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port project is a promising venture that holds the potential to transform the economic landscape of Ijebu-Ode and the surrounding regions. As more details about the timeline and specifics of the project become available, we can expect to see further developments in this exciting endeavour.
