Cupra Unveils Updated Leon Line-up in Australia, Including First Sportstourer Wagon and Broader Range of Hybrid and Performance Powertrains

Cupra, the high-performance sub-brand of Seat, has announced significant updates to its Leon line-up in Australia, set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. The latest range will introduce the first Leon Sportstourer wagon and a wider choice of hybrid and performance drivetrains.

The new Leon Sportstourer VZe plug-in hybrid will retail at $69,990, boasting a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.3 seconds. This wagon model comes equipped with 19-inch alloys, adaptive suspension, and a 12-speaker audio system. For an additional $2,000, a panoramic roof can be added to the Sportstourer VZe wagon.

The Leon VZx hatch, priced at $64,990, is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, producing 221kW and 400Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds. For those seeking an even more exhilarating experience, the VZx hatch offers a $7,600 Extreme Package, which includes Cupra bucket seats, an Akebono brake package, and Matrix headlights.

The starting price for the Leon S mild hybrid hatch will be $46,990, offering features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone climate control, heated sports front seats, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless phone integration, and a 10-airbag safety suite. The Leather & Sound package, available for an additional $2,200, includes Moonslate leather upholstery and a 12-speaker Sennheiser audio system.

Test drives and orders for the updated Leon range will open in October 2025, with deliveries beginning in November. The Leon S hatch features a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, producing 110kW and claimed fuel use of 5.4L/100km.

Ten colours will be offered across the range, including three matte finishes. The new Leon Sportstourer VZe plug-in hybrid combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a 20kWh battery for a system output of 200kW and 400Nm. It can travel up to 121km on electric power and has a claimed fuel use of 0.4L/100km.

Cupra's updated Leon line-up promises to deliver an exciting blend of performance, style, and efficiency, catering to a wide range of preferences and driving styles. With the introduction of the Leon Sportstourer wagon and a broader range of hybrid and performance powertrains, Cupra is set to redefine the compact executive segment in Australia.
