Exploring the "Colonialism" exhibit, participating in a sketching workshop, and witnessing the Rolling Stones in concert are part of the tour's offerings.
In the heart of Germany, the city of Münster is gearing up for a culturally rich weekend. Here's what you can expect:
Drawing Course at the Münster City Museum
On Sunday, September 14th, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, the Münster City Museum is hosting a drawing course for adults. Led by artist Gintarė Skroblytė, participants can find inspiration from the museum's permanent collection while creating their own masterpieces. The cost is 17 euros per person, including material costs, and only ten places are available, so registration is required.
Exploring the History of the Zwinger
For those interested in history, two tours are on offer. On Saturday, September 13th, at 4 PM, a public tour of the "Colonialism Theme Room" is scheduled. The following day, Heritage Day sees the Zwinger on the Promenade open its doors for free. At 3 PM, a guided tour of the Zwinger will be provided. The cost for the colonialism tour is five euros, reduced to three euros.
The Zwinger tour, led by Michael Cremann, invites visitors to explore the history, uses, and damages of the almost 500-year-old building. It also highlights an installation created by artist Rebecca Horn in 1987 for the Sculpture Projects.
Delving into Münster's Colonial Past
The colonialism tour invites visitors to explore Münster's colonial past between 1884 and 1918. This tour, like the Zwinger tour, starts at the museum foyer.
A Musical Flashback
Music enthusiasts might want to take a trip down memory lane. On September 11, 1965, the Rolling Stones gave their first concert on the European continent in Münster. A photograph from this historic event can be viewed in large format in the window of the city museum on Salzstraße from Friday, September 12.
Heritage Day: The Zwinger on the Promenade
Though specific details are not provided, another event taking place is Heritage Day: The Zwinger on the Promenade.
Demand for the Rolling Stones was So High
The demand for tickets was so high that the band performed both in the afternoon and in the evening.
Registration for the Drawing Course
Participants are welcome to bring their own materials for the drawing course. To secure your spot, registration is required by phone at 0251/492-4503 or by email at museum-info@stadt-unser website.
