Extensive Investigation Probe Conclusion: Joint Press Conference by KPB Unna and Dortmund Public Prosecutor's Office on September 4, 2025

In a significant development, the KPB Unna and the Public Prosecutor's Office Dortmund have announced an investigative success regarding a case of banditry that occurred in 2024. The announcement comes following the arrest of two main suspects, a 26-year-old Iraqi from Menden and a 26-year-old German from Frödenberg, in connection with both the banditry case and investigations into the narcotics trade in Frödenberg and Menden.

The arrest of the Frödenberg suspect, who is also a key figure in the narcotics trade investigations, took place on August 5, 2025. The Menden suspect, a Syrian national, was arrested by KPB Unna forces in Menden on the same day.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the duo had been involved in human smuggling activities from September 2023 to April 2024, with the duo accused of smuggling a total of six accomplices into Germany during this period. The seven individuals from Kamen, Hamm, Neuenrade, Solingen, and Hemer are currently accused of human smuggling, as investigated in a closed police inquiry in Frödenberg and Menden.

The investigations connected to the enforcement measures against the trade in narcotics from August 2025 in Frödenberg and Menden provided further insights, leading to the arrest of the two main suspects. The case traces back to a previous incident of banditry in 2024, with subsequent investigations revealing indications of human smuggling in 2025.

On September 4, 2025, the KPB Unna announced the initial success of the investigations, marking a significant step forward in combating illegal activities in the region. Ten mobile phones, a notebook, and a low five-figure sum of cash were secured during searches in Kamen, Hamm, Iserlohn, Neuenrade, and Menden.

Eight suspects were arrested on April 21, 2024, at a towing and impound lot on Max-Planck-Straße in Unna, in relation to the banditry case. The details of this arrest and its connection to the current investigations have yet to be fully disclosed.
