Famed fashion leader at Vogue is departing - succession decision has been made
After a remarkable 34-year tenure, Anna Wintour, 75, has stepped down as the editor-in-chief of U.S. Vogue. The fashion industry titan will continue to serve as the chief organizer for the Met Gala, an annual event that takes place in early May.
In her place, Chloe Malle, 39, has been appointed as the new editor-in-chief. Malle, who has been with Vogue for 14 years, has previously led the Vogue website and hosted the weekly podcast "The Runthrough."
Malle expressed her excitement about her new role, stating, "I'm excited about the prospect of shaping 'Vogue' after 'Vogue' has shaped me." She also acknowledged her mentor, Anna Wintour, who will remain with Vogue in a new role as global editorial director.
Anna Wintour, widely regarded as one of the most influential women in the fashion industry, will continue to be connected to Vogue worldwide. She will also serve as the highest content authority at CondΓ© Nast for the title.
In her new role, Wintour will report to Malle, who will manage daily operations as the head of editorial content for U.S. Vogue. This appointment was announced following Wintour's departure.
Despite her new role, Wintour will remain involved with the Met Gala, ensuring that her influence continues to shape the fashion world. Malle, on the other hand, did not mention any involvement with the Cros Chronicles Tour or the harness racing track in her quoted statement.
As Malle embarks on this new journey, she is poised to bring fresh perspectives while maintaining the legacy established by her mentor, Anna Wintour. The fashion world eagerly awaits the changes that this transition will bring to U.S. Vogue.
