Fan of BPOL-H Football Club From Essen Assaults Federal Police Officers in Hanover (Riot Incident)

In an unexpected turn of events at Hannover Central Station, an 18-year-old fan of Rot-Weiß Essen, a third-division football club, was arrested after attacking a federal police officer. The incident took place on a train from Essen to Cottbus, as the fans were making their journey.

According to initial reports, around 1 pm, Deutsche Bahn informed the Federal Police Inspectorate Hannover about approximately 50 Rot-Weiß Essen fans. As the train arrived at the station, the fans' behaviour became disorderly, leading to a control situation.

The police's approach was differential and proportionate, examining whether it was an individual or a group causing the disturbance. However, the situation escalated when the 18-year-old attacked an officer with a hard plastic rod and punches to the head.

The attacked officer was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment. The train conductor had excluded the identified fans from further travel due to their behaviour. Federal and state police forces were deployed to calm the situation, and strong measures were taken.

Around 3 pm, the identified fans were allowed to continue their journey to Cottbus. However, the incident significantly delayed their journey. The 18-year-old was arrested and taken to the station.

Investigations into the incident continue, and the federal police have initiated an investigation against the 18-year-old for assault, resisting arrest, and dangerous bodily harm. For further inquiries, contact Kevin Müller at the Federal Police Inspectorate Hannover (contact details provided).

Martin Kröger, the leader of the organization responsible for security and fan coordination at the event involving Rot-Weiß Essen fans at Hannover station, stated that those who disturb or attack police officers will not be allowed to attend football matches.

The remaining fans' onward and return journeys were uneventful. The police director's statement serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining order and respect for authority during such events.
