Fans of Arizona State university were deprived of witnessing the second half of their team's victory, owing to a transmission problem with ESPN.

The Arizona State Sun Devils' home opener against Northern Arizona on ESPN+ was marred by a transmission disruption during the second half of the game. According to reports, the responsible company for the issue was Roku.

The game, which was part of the Big 12's agreement with ESPN, saw the game feed come back pixelated and blurry at times, and at other moments, it was a blank screen with choppy audio. Arizona State athletic director Graham Rossini expressed his apologies during the game, acknowledging the need to be better for the fans and the program.

Interestingly, the transmission issue did not affect the upcoming four games for Arizona State, with the Sept. 13 contest against Texas State set to be broadcast on TNT, and the Sept. 26 game against TCU to air on Fox. Next Saturday's game at Mississippi State will be on ESPN2.

The transmission issue started before Sam Leavitt's 54-yard touchdown run, and it affected multiple ESPN+ feeds. Rossini mentioned that he is in touch with the Big 12 and ESPN regarding the issue.

Despite the technical glitch, the game was a significant one for the Sun Devils. It marked their first sellout for a home opener since 1998. Former ASU running back Cam Skattebo, a rookie on the New York Giants, expressed his frustration about the game not being streamed on ESPN.
