Giorgio Armani Bid Farewell at Private Funeral

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani was laid to rest at a private funeral service last weekend, attended by family members, friends, and closest colleagues. Armani passed away last Thursday at the age of 91.

The funeral service took place in the small town of Rivalta, near his birthplace of Piacenza in northern Italy. Notable attendees included fashion designer Donatella Versace, Fiat heir John Elkann, and composer Ludovico Einaudi, among others.

In a touching gesture, Armani's life and business partner Leo Dell'Orco, his sister, nieces, and nephew were also in attendance. The multinational corporation, which operates over 600 boutiques globally, closed all its stores worldwide at 3:00 PM for the rest of the day in respect for Armani's lifetime achievements.

A sign outside a store on Düsseldorf's Königsallee read, "In memory of Mr. Armani, all group stores will be closed today, September 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM until the end of the day, on the occasion of his funeral."

Over the weekend, thousands paid their respects to Armani as his coffin lay in state at the Armani headquarters in Milan. As the coffin was brought to the church in the afternoon, some people gathered on the streetside to applaud.

The funeral service was a small, intimate gathering, with the ceremony taking place at a church in Rivalta. The funeral was not open to the public, and the town was closed to tourists and visitors several hours before the service.

Armani's influence on the fashion industry was profound, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of designers. His innovative designs and commitment to quality have left an indelible mark on the world of fashion. Rest in peace, Giorgio Armani.
