Giorgio Armani's Private Funeral Held in Milan
Italian fashion icon Giorgio Armani was laid to rest in a private funeral attended by close family members, friends, and colleagues, including Milan's mayor Giuseppe Sala. The ceremony took place in the church of Rivalta, near Armani's birthplace in northern Italy, following his explicit wish for a private affair.
The Armani Group announced Giorgio Armani's death on September 4. According to his wish, the funeral was held privately, with the casket placed in the Armani/Teatro, surrounded by a sea of lights. People in Milan have been able to pay their respects since Saturday morning, with hundreds reportedly already waiting in line early Saturday morning, as per Italian newspaper "Corriere della Sera."
Donatella Versace, a close friend and fellow fashion legend, paid her respects to Giorgio Armani at the private funeral. She wore a black suit, dark sunglasses, and a bouquet of white flowers. Prior to the funeral, Versace had paid tribute to Armani on Instagram, calling him a giant who wrote history and will be remembered forever.
Armani, affectionately known as "Signor Armani" by his employees, worked tirelessly until his last days, dedicated to the company, collections, and various new projects. He passed away peacefully at the age of 91, surrounded by loved ones.
