Giorgio Armani, the iconic Italian fashion designer and founder of the Armani Group, has passed away at the age of 91. The news was confirmed by the Armani Group, who announced that their creator, founder, and driving force had left us peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in 1934 into a middle-class family with Armenian roots in the northern Italian town of Piacenza, Armani's journey in the fashion industry began unexpectedly. After dropping out of medical school, he found himself drawn to the world of fashion, marking the beginning of a career that would span over five decades and culminate in the creation of a global fashion empire.

Armani built his empire in the 1970s with his early deceased business partner Sergio Galeotti. Together, they created a brand that encompasses clothing, jewelry, perfumes, home decor, and luxury hotels. Over the years, Armani's designs became synonymous with elegance and sophistication, earning him a place among the greatest fashion designers of all time.

In recent years, Armani worked particularly closely with his long-time partner and manager Leo Dell'Orco, as well as with his nieces Silvana and Roberta Armani. The latter were planned to take on his creative and operational responsibilities after his death.

The news of Armani's passing has been met with an outpouring of tributes from the fashion world. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni paid tribute to Armani, calling him an icon and a symbol of the best of Italy. Fashion designer Donatella Versace also paid tribute, stating that Armani wrote history and will be remembered forever.

Italian Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli hailed Armani as a leading figure of Italian culture who could translate elegance into a universal language. His influence extended beyond the fashion industry, with his designs gracing the red carpet at numerous film premieres and awards ceremonies.

Armani had been battling health issues in recent months, but his legacy will continue to live on. His fashion empire, which he built from the ground up, will continue to inspire generations of designers and fashion enthusiasts. Rest in peace, Giorgio Armani.
