Fatal Road Accident in Phitsanulok: Couple perishes following collision with cow

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a tragic incident occurred on Highway 12 in Wang Thong district, Phitsanulok province. A white Honda Jazz was involved in a fatal accident on a stretch of highway between Namtok Poi and Ban Pong Pa.

The accident happened at 6.59am, and the victims were identified as Uthis (53) and his wife Chatthanok (50). The couple was traveling to Uttaradit province to give a dhamma lecture. Unfortunately, their lives were cut short when the car hit a dead cow and overturned into a roadside pond.

Rescue workers were quick to attend the accident site, using cutting tools to retrieve the bodies from the overturned car. The victims' bodies were then sent to Buddhachinaraj Hospital for examination.

Another incident nearby involved about 10 loose cows, causing a collision between a pickup and a lorry. Two animals lost their lives in this incident. No injuries were reported in this second incident.

The investigation of both incidents is being handled by Pol Lt Col Manun Wichakot at Kaeng Sopha police station. The owners of the cattle herd involved in the accident are local farmers from the area. Authorities are working to identify and hold the owner of the cattle responsible.

The victims, Uthis and Chatthanok, have been released to their families for religious rites. Our thoughts are with their loved ones during this difficult time.

A dead cow was found near the accident site, which may have contributed to the crash. The Phitsanulok Province authorities urge all drivers to be extra cautious when driving, especially during the early hours of the morning, and to keep a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid any potential accidents.
