In a shocking turn of events, a shooting occurred at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on a day that was supposed to be filled with the joy of learning. The incident, which took place during the first week of school, claimed the lives of two young children, aged eight and ten, and left seventeen others, including fourteen children, wounded.

The shooter, a man in his early twenties, used a rifle, shotgun, and pistol in the tragic event. The police are currently investigating the shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime targeting Catholics.

Upon learning about the incident, US President Donald Trump ordered flags to stand at half-mast as a mark of respect for the victims. The shooter, however, died by suicide.

The school was evacuated immediately, and a "reunification zone" was established for students' families. The FBI responded quickly to the scene, and local officials, including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and school representatives, expressed their reactions to the shooting.

Pope Leo XIV also expressed his sadness over the tragedy and sent condolences to those affected. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has promised to continue providing updates on the situation.

The shooting took place during Mass at the Annunciation Church, a private elementary school with around 395 students. The school had only recently started for the new academic year.

This tragic event has left the community in shock and mourning. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims, the injured, and the entire Annunciation Catholic School community during this difficult time.
