Federal Alert Day
On Thursday, September 11, Aschaffenburg will participate in the fifth nationwide civil defense drill organised by the Technisches Hilfswerk (THW) in Germany. This exercise aims to test warning systems for crisis and disaster scenarios.
In Aschaffenburg, the "Civil Warning" siren signal will sound at 11 AM. This signal, a continuous one-minute tone, will be a stark reminder of the importance of being prepared in emergency situations. The same signal can be heard or warned via various channels, with detailed information on what to do provided on the website https://warnung.bund.de.
For those on the move, a warning message will be sent directly to mobile phones and smartphones via the "Cell Broadcast" mobile service. Upon receiving this warning text, a loud tone will sound, followed by the text message. It's important to note that unlike other warning systems like NINA, the "Cell Broadcast" mobile service sends warnings as SMS.
In addition to the sirens and the "Cell Broadcast" mobile service, a test warning will also be sent via the "NINA" warning app. For more information about the civil defense drill, visit
The drill will be conducted by the federal, state, and local governments, working together to ensure the safety and preparedness of the community. An all-clear signal will be issued via sirens and all warning channels, excluding Cell Broadcast, around 11:45 AM.
Stay informed and prepared. Knowing what to do in an emergency can make all the difference. For more information on emergency procedures, visit https://warnung.bund.de.
