Federal authorities carried out two search warrants involving BPOLI MD

In a series of events that unfolded on August 20, 2025, a 23-year-old Afghan national was apprehended by the Federal Police at Magdeburg Central Station. The arrest was the result of two outstanding arrest warrants issued by the public prosecutors' offices in Stendal and Magdeburg.

The check conducted by the Federal Police revealed that the man had been wanted by the authorities since July 2025, as he had failed to begin serving his sentence and his whereabouts were unknown. The arrest warrants were issued due to offenses committed in November 2024 in Burg, for which he was sentenced by the district court to a fine of 450 euros or 30 days' imprisonment for threats, and in May 2025 in Magdeburg, for which he was sentenced to a fine of 75 euros or five days' imprisonment for fraudulent receipt of benefits.

The 23-year-old was taken into custody by the Federal Police officers, who then brought him to the Federal Police Inspectorate at Magdeburg Central Station. The news about the arrest was transmitted by the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg.

Since the Afghan could not pay the total outstanding amount of 510 euros, he was subsequently taken to a detention facility to serve his remaining 17 days of imprisonment. The public prosecutor's office responsible for prosecuting the man is the Public Prosecutor's Office of Magdeburg (Staatsanwaltschaft Magdeburg).
