Federal Law Enforcement Agents at Hamburg Airport Arrest Two Individuals Over the Weekend

A 27-year-old Bulgarian national was controlled by the Federal Police at Hamburg Airport around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The individual, who was wanted for a warrant for his arrest, presented himself for air security screening around 10 a.m. on a Friday.

The wanted check performed by the Federal Police revealed that the warrant was issued for fraud. A follow-up check of his hand luggage was necessary during the security screening. The individual was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bremen since April 2025 for driving without a license in two cases and for forgery of documents.

The mother-in-law of the individual was unable to obtain the money, and she informed him around 6 p.m. The individual was then unable to raise the money himself and contacted his mother-in-law in Bremen. The individual was able to pay the required 1,800 euros and was then released from the police measure.

The fine for the fraud was 30 daily rates of 60 euros each, totaling 1,800 euros. However, the total fine for the offenses was originally 180 daily rates of 30 euros each, but only a part had been paid, leaving 171 daily rates to be paid, resulting in an additional fine and procedural costs, bringing the total amount to be paid to 5,273 euros.

The individual was traveling from Hamburg Airport to Sibiu, Romania. Upon arrival at the airport, he was taken to the Holstenglacis detention center. No information was available regarding the current head of the Federal Police Inspection Airport Hamburg or contact details for inquiries about events in the two cases.

Meanwhile, a 51-year-old Romanian national was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Augsburg since March 2025. The specific charges against the individual were not disclosed.
