In an unexpected turn of events, a 33-year-old homeless man from Herne was detained at Gelsenkirchen Central Station on August 29th. The incident occurred around 6:55 PM when federal police officers carried out a routine check on a German citizen.

During the check, officers discovered a dangerous item in the man's backpack. The item was an unloaded blank-firing pistol, along with its corresponding magazine. The man, however, claimed he wasn't carrying any dangerous objects.

Despite his assertion, the officers found that the man did not possess the necessary weapons permits. Consequently, the federal police seized the blank-firing weapon, and an investigation for violating the weapons law was initiated.

Upon questioning, the man exercised his right to silence and did not make any statements. The investigating judge handling the case remains undisclosed at this time.

For further information, the Press Office for the Federal Police Inspectorate Dortmund can be contacted. Luca Wilmes is the contact person, and his details include telephone, mobile, email, and Twitter handle. The Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin can also be reached for inquiries.

The Federal Police Inspectorate Dortmund's address is also provided, and further details can be found on the website www.bundespolizei.de. It is worth noting that the man had owned the weapon since 2000.

After the necessary police procedures, the 33-year-old was allowed to continue on his way. The federal police officers reminded the man of the then-current general decree prohibiting the carrying of dangerous objects.

The Press Office for the Federal Police Inspectorate Dortmund encourages anyone with additional information to come forward to help in the ongoing investigation.
