Federal Law Enforcement (ICE) experienced an incident near Celle Steine, resulting in damage. The German Federal Police are currently searching for any individuals who may have witnessed this event.
On Friday evening, August 29, 2025, at 20:30, a dangerous interference with rail traffic occurred on the railway line between Hamburg and Hannover near Celle. The high-speed train ICE 775 ran over stones on the tracks, damaging its wheel assembly, resulting in a total delay of 80 minutes for 5 trains.
Fortunately, no passengers were injured during the incident. However, the damaged ICE had to be taken out of service in Hannover. As a result, the ICE had to continue to Hannover Hauptbahnhof at reduced speed after an unscheduled stop in Isernhagen.
The Federal Police are continuing to investigate the incident as a dangerous interference with rail traffic. Witnesses are being sought who may have seen potential culprits on the railway tracks between the Fuhse canal and "Zum Kiebitzsee" street in Celle on Friday evening.
Entering railway premises is always dangerous, as demonstrated by this incident, as stones can become uncontrolled projectiles when hit by trains, potentially causing injury or property damage.
