Federal police score successful search operation on Tuesday, resulting in three arrests at Düsseldorf Airport

Düsseldorf Airport witnessed an unusual string of arrests in recent months, with three individuals being detained during border police immigration controls.

In the first instance, a 35-year-old German woman was arrested in August of the current year, following an arrest warrant issued by the Local Court of Lübeck. The woman, a resident of Lübeck, was suspected of theft. An enforcement order for asset seizure of approximately 800 euros was issued against her in January 2024, for forgery of evidence. Despite failing to appear for the main hearing, she was later handed over to the judicial authorities by the Federal Police.

On Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, a 27-year-old Syrian was arrested at the same airport. The Syrian, a resident of Lower Saxony, was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Braunschweig since May 2025 for fraud in two cases. Despite being convicted and sentenced to a fine of 330 euros in December 2024, the Syrian was able to pay the fine with the help of a family member and avoid an eleven-day custodial sentence.

A 43-year-old German man was arrested in July of the current year, with a warrant for compulsory detention issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bielefeld. The man, who lives in the district of Osnabrück, was able to pay a fine of 50 euros on the spot and thus avoid compulsory detention of one day. No further details about the nature of the violation of the Law on Administrative Offenses were provided.

The total number of wanted travelers arrested at Düsseldorf Airport during the specified border police immigration controls was three.
