Feds in North Rhine-Westphalia apprehend counterfeiting operation - Iraqi woman detained at Cologne/Bonn airport with phony identification documents
On September 1st, a 34-year-old Iraqi woman was arrested at the Cologne/Bonn Airport by the Federal Police. The incident involved the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin.
During a routine check, the woman presented a Swedish ID card. However, the Federal Police had doubts about the authenticity of the presented ID card. Specialist document examiners from the Federal Police determined that the ID card was a forgery.
The woman could not provide any further documents to prove her legal entry or stay in the federal territory. As a result, she was taken to the station by the Federal Police. The arrest and suspicion occurred at the Airport Cologne/Bonn (our platform).
The woman expressed a request for protection during the interrogation, and an Arabic-speaking interpreter was used. The woman is now suspected of illegal residence, forgery, and obtaining false official documents.
After completing all police measures, the woman was released with a referral certificate for the initial reception center in Bochum. No specific details are available about which prosecutor or police task force was involved in the arrest.
The Federal Police's intervention prevented an illegal entry, and the forged ID card and the woman's mobile phone were seized. Further information can be obtained from the Federal Police's website or the provided contact address.
