Female victim of male violence, aged 54, deceased in Motril, confirmed by authorities

In the city of Motril, Granada, a tragic event unfolded on August 24, as a woman lost her life in an alleged case of gender violence.

The victim, a resident of the El Varadero urbanization, was initially treated at her home for alcohol poisoning and a head injury. However, her condition worsened, and she was later transferred to the Neurotraumatology Unit of the Granada Hospital Virgen de las Nieves, where she succumbed to her injuries in the afternoon.

The man suspected of being the perpetrator of this heinous crime is the woman's ex-partner from CΓ‘rtama, who is currently in custody. Despite his name not being explicitly mentioned in the sources, he is described as the woman's partner and the main suspect in this murder case.

The events took place around 10:30 am, and the emergency service 112 received a call reporting that a woman needed medical assistance. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the woman had not suffered one blow, but many, with one causing a cerebral trauma that ultimately ended her life.

The Ministry of Equality and the Government Delegate against Gender Violence have expressed "absolute condemnation and rejection" of this machista assassination. They have also called for "all efforts from institutions, administrations, and society as a whole to arrive in time and prevent more deaths".

The Ministry of the Interior has extended its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. In a statement, they expressed their regret over the loss and reiterated their commitment to fighting against gender violence.

The woman's risk level was assessed as low by experts. However, this incident serves as a stark reminder that no one is immune to the dangers of gender violence.

Seven of the 25 women killed by gender violence this year are from the Andalusian autonomous community. This statistic underscores the urgent need for continued efforts to combat this issue.

In solidarity with the victim and her family, a moment of silence will be observed as a sign of repudiation tomorrow. In Motril, there will be a silent gathering at noon, and a similar event is planned in other parts of the country.

This tragic event is not the first of its kind in Granada. The most recent precedent of alleged machista violence occurred on May 17 in CΓΊllar Vega. The authorities are urging anyone who may be in a dangerous situation to seek help and report any incidents of gender violence.

As the investigation continues, the authorities are working diligently to bring the perpetrator to justice. The man has been arrested, placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, and imprisoned in the Albolote provincial prison, charged with a crime of homicide in the home.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time. We stand in solidarity with them and with all those who have been affected by gender violence. Let us continue to work together to eradicate this scourge from our society.
