In a recent meeting with club members, Fenerbahce President Ali Koc discussed the reasons behind Jose Mourinho's departure from the club. The meeting, held ahead of the upcoming elections this month, was an opportunity for Koc to address the club's faithful.

The departure of Mourinho was a painful separation for Koc, who considers the Portuguese manager a friend. However, the chemistry between Fenerbahce and Mourinho did not fully match, with every game seeing the team struggle to come from behind and regain the lead.

Bringing Mourinho to Fenerbahce was already considered a significant success, and his achievements during his tenure are undeniable. He led the team to a second-place finish with 99 points, a feat that Koc referenced during the meeting as part of Fenerbahce's DNA.

Despite the success, Fenerbahce initially accepted Mourinho's defensive style but later decided a more commanding approach was necessary. European competition, according to Koc, is one thing, but in Turkey, Fenerbahce needs to dominate most matches.

In light of these challenges, Koc believes that the squad is capable of playing superior football. The candidate for the Fenerbahce coaching position mentioned by Koc, recalling the successes of İsmail Kartal, is Domenico Tedesco. Ali Koç announced the new head coach on September 8, naming Tedesco as the successor to Mourinho.

Observers have interpreted Koc's statement as a potential hint that Kartal could be considered for the head coach position once again. The chemistry between Koc and Kartal, who led Fenerbahce to a second-place finish with 99 points, is well-documented.

Koc expressed dissatisfaction with the manner of elimination by Benfica, stating that it was unacceptable. The meeting with club members took place ahead of the upcoming elections this month, providing an opportunity for Koc to address the club's future direction.

As Fenerbahce moves forward, the focus will be on replicating the successes of the past while adapting to the challenges of the present. With the appointment of Tedesco, the club is hopeful that it can return to its winning ways and once again dominate Turkish football.
