Kneecap Makes History at Electric Picnic

Northern Irish rap group Kneecap made history this weekend as they took to the main stage at Electric Picnic, marking a significant milestone for the band.

Frontman Mo Chara addressed the crowd, expressing gratitude for their presence and thanking them for being "all you Fenian b**" who made their performance possible. He also encouraged the crowd to get on someone's shoulders, promising a memorable experience.

Throughout their set, Kneecap showcased their unique style of rapping in Irish, much to the delight of their fans. They expressed gratitude for the massive turnout, stating that they didn't think it would be possible to have so many people interested in their music.

The band also discussed their ongoing support for the people of Palestine, making poignant links between songs that resonated with the crowd. Mo Chara even performed a raucous version of The Auld Triangle.

During the performance, DJ Próvaí jumped into the crowd, adding to the energetic atmosphere. Notable attendees included Lewis Capaldi and Danny O'Reilly, who were spotted in the crowd watching the set.

Louise and Rosie, both from Kildare, attended the Kneecap gig and were impressed by the band's growth since they last saw them. Ella from Galway and her friend Marie from West Cork felt the gig was amazing and empowering.

Mo Chara credited the crowd for their support, stating that they weren't on radios or TV and their presence on the main stage was due to the fans. He also thanked Melvin Benn for his ongoing support of Kneecap at Electric Picnic.

The band's set was filled with crowd favorites, including C.E.A.R.T.A., Get Your Brits Out, and The Recap. The crowd joined in singing "Free Mo Chara" in relation to a case involving band member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh.

The Electric Picnic gig was a memorable day for Kneecap and their fans, marking a new chapter in the band's career. However, it remains unclear who performed first in the morning on the main stage at Electric Picnic.

Despite a three-year ban in Hungary, Kneecap continues to make waves in the music industry, proving that their unique blend of Irish rap and social commentary has a universal appeal. The band's Electric Picnic performance was a testament to their growing influence and the passion of their devoted fanbase.
