In North Germany, the Regional Control Centre North has been at the forefront of addressing a concerning issue – fake police calls. On 11th December 2024, the centre received reports of such calls in the Angeln area, Kappeln, and Schleswig.

The callers, pretending to be police officers, demand valuable items and cash for safekeeping, citing imminent break-ins. It is important to note that such calls are a crime, as they are fraudulent in nature.

The Regional Control Centre North, the official police control centre for these areas, can be contacted for inquiries regarding these fake calls. They advise against reacting to such calls, providing information about personal assets, and ending the call without contacting the police.

If you receive such a call, it is crucial to report it to local police stations or 110, the police control centre. The Regional Control Centre North encourages this action, stating that it is essential to inform the authorities about these incidents.

The calls are made to fixed-line numbers listed in local directories, and the centre is responsible for handling reports about fake police calls in the mentioned areas. However, they have not provided any updates on the ongoing investigation into these calls.

The centre also did not provide any new information about the callers' identities or methods. They have advised against providing personal information during these calls and ending the conversation by stating that one will contact the police.

The telephone number to reach the Regional Control Centre North is 0461/99930240, and emails can be sent to [email protected]. The centre emphasises the importance of reporting such incidents to ensure the safety and security of the community.

In light of these events, it is a reminder for everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The police control centre is there to help and ensure the safety of the public.
