"Fifteen Hidden References Spotted in the Return of "The Amazing World of Gumball" That Might Be Missed by Young Viewers"

In the animated world of Elmore, the much-loved series "The Amazing World of Gumball" has made a triumphant return after a six-year hiatus. The new season is now available on Hulu, and it's not just the usual antics from our favourite cartoon characters.

The creative team behind the show has sprinkled hidden jokes and cultural references throughout the season, delighting fans who appreciate a good nod to pop culture. For instance, in the episode "The Gourmet," there's a clever reference to Lady Gaga's infamous "meat dress" from the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

The pop culture homages continue in "The Teacher," where the show pokes fun at several celebrities' Met Gala outfits. In "The Burger," Gumball makes a reference to Elon Musk's children's unusual names, while in "The Letter," Darwin performs Fortnite dance moves.

The episode "The App" sees Darwin and Gumball wearing special shades that make them see subliminal messages, reminiscent of the sci-fi movie "They Live" (1988). In "The Butts," Mr. Brown begins to rap, and the students perform distinct dance moves, parodying several popular memes.

The moldy tortilla trend in "The App" is based on the TikTok trend "The Tortilla Challenge" from 2022. Meanwhile, in "The Distance," a line is a play on the term "Padawan" from Star Wars.

In "The Wrinkle," there's a subtle reference to Tom Cruise's mask in Vanilla Sky (2001). And in "The Gut," there is a mention of THE* dress, and a nod to the popular TV show Love Island.

The episode "The Assistant" features a cartoon character resembling Donald Trump, with his wig getting snatched away at the supermarket. It also references the online game Club Penguin.

Lastly, in "The Climb," an animated Queen Camilla makes a cameo, adding another layer of excitement to this pop culture-filled season. So, grab your snacks, settle in, and get ready for a rollercoaster ride through the latest season of "The Amazing World of Gumball."
