Filmmaker Sam Raimi set to reinvigorate the 1978 mystical film Magic through a new remake production.

Film director Sam Raimi will craft a fresh adaptation of the 1978 film Magic.

In the world of horror cinema, two intriguing projects are on the horizon. First, Zach Cregger's new movie, "Weapons," is set to be a chilling and peculiar follow-up to his 2022 debut, "Barbarian."

Meanwhile, the remake of the 1978 film "Magic," directed by Richard Attenborough, is being brought back to life. The remake, produced by Lionsgate, Sam Raimi, and Roy Lee, will be scripted by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, the duo behind "Baywatch" and the upcoming 2026 film "Send Help," as well as the "Freddy vs. Jason" and 2009 "Friday The 13th" reboots.

"Magic," based on a novel of the same name by William Goldman, tells the story of a failed magician whose ventriloquist's dummy brings him fame and fortune, but also leads to homicide. The original film starred Anthony Hopkins in a hugely underappreciated performance, according to many critics.

The horror genre has a doll-shaped void to fill following the release of "M3GAN 2.0" and "The Conjuring"'s last film. "Magic" joins a list of doll-centric horror films such as "Child's Play," "Annabelle," "The Boy," and "Dead Silence."

As for the director and cast of the "Magic" remake, those details have yet to be announced. However, Osgood Perkins, known for films like "Longlegs" and "The Monkey," is also working on a new project.

In addition, Macon Blair has remade the Troma classic, "The Toxic Avenger," a film that doesn't shy away from blood and gore.

Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting upcoming projects in the world of horror cinema.
