Financial manager expresses shock over termination from position

The Baden-Württembergische Ärztekasse (BWVA), a supply institution for doctors, dentists, and veterinarians in Tübingen, finds itself embroiled in a legal dispute with its former deputy CEO, Alexander Banik. The dispute centres around Banik's dismissal during his probation period, an event that has caused tension within the organisation.

The hearing did not shed light on the reasons for Banik's dismissal, as such reasons do not have to be justified during the probation period. However, the surprise came with Banik's lawsuit against his dismissal, which revealed a disagreement between Banik and the CEO, Volker Mattausch, regarding the terms of his departure.

Banik's lawyers, including the former Minister of Justice Herta Däubler-Gmelin, have raised questions about the absence of a representative for severely disabled people in the BWVA, despite regulations requiring it. The main issue in the hearing was whether Banik had agreed to the dismissal. Banik's lawyer, Däubler-Gmelin, stated that Banik had only confirmed receipt of a document, not agreed to its content.

The judge expressed doubts about Banik's account, questioning why he had given the digital signature in question. The BWVA, however, denies any pressure related to Banik's departure and maintains that the decision to part ways was made on September 11, 2025, for unspecified reasons.

The legal dispute will continue in a chamber session set by the Labor Court Reutlingen. Meanwhile, the BWVA is moving forward, with the Cannstatter Volksfest 2025 providing information about dress code, tents, and dates for those interested.

It is worth noting that the BWVA has been involved in labor court cases in the past. Additionally, the deputy CEO responsible for capital investment at the BWVA left the institution at the end of September for personal reasons, as initially described by the BWVA as amicable.

CEO Hoeneß, however, has distanced himself from the VfB Stuttgart Transfermarkt and Fenerbahce, stating that these topics are not of concern to him.

The BWVA continues to operate, but the legal dispute with Banik casts a shadow over the institution. As the case progresses, more details may come to light, shedding further light on the circumstances surrounding Banik's dismissal.
