Fire erupts in a residence housing multiple families in Bocholt

In an unexpected turn of events, the Fire Department Bocholt was alerted to a fire in a multi-family dwelling on Wednesday evening at approximately 19:10. The official website for updates on the incident is www.bocholt.de/feuerwehr.

Upon arrival, responding units found thick smoke billowing from the attic of the building. Thankfully, all residents were able to evacuate the building safely and unharmed.

A total of 48 personnel with 10 vehicles were deployed for the operation. To combat the blaze, the fire department initiated extensive firefighting measures, both internally and externally via the turntable ladder.

During the operation, the volunteer fire department and the special operations group for high-angle rescue were also alerted. Together with the special forces, sections of the roof structure and a photovoltaic system were removed from the turntable ladder to target hidden hotspots. Several teams in breathing apparatus were deployed simultaneously to prevent the further spread of the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with the police leading the investigation. The person responsible for investigating the cause of the fire is the police, specifically the police department handling the case, such as the Polizeipräsidium Nordhessen in the Homberg fire incident, with possible involvement of fire brigade leadership like Einsatzleiter Karsten Stein, deputy city fire inspector of Homberg.

The extent of the damage from the fire is yet to be determined. The Fire Department Bocholt will continue to provide updates on the incident as more information becomes available.
