Fire incident at a furniture shop building

A fire broke out at the Roller company grounds in Dortmund early this morning. The Dortmund Fire Department was called to the scene at around 1:33 AM.

Upon arrival, flames were already shooting out of the front window of an old workshop on the grounds. The fire department quickly deployed a team in breathing apparatus to fight the fire. A hydraulic spreader was used to force open other doors to check for fire spread in the remaining rooms.

The fire was contained to the room of origin, but the workshop, along with wooden pallets, tools, and debris, were engulfed in flames. The fire department used a turntable ladder equipped with a thermal imaging camera to monitor the roof of the workshop.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the Dortmund Fire Department and the criminal police are investigating the incident. For inquiries, contact the Dortmund Fire Department Duty Officer Gregor Kusemann at 0231/8455000 or [email protected].

Approximately 25 personnel from Fire Station 3 (Asseln), Fire Station 4 (Horde), Fire Brigade 11 (Soelde), and the rescue service were involved in the operation. Follow-up operations included the removal of debris from the workshop and checking for hotspots.

The Dortmund Fire Department is the point of contact for any inquiries related to the fire. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
