Fire Incident at Multi-Family Residence: Collaborative Announcement by Detmold Public Prosecutor's Office and Bielefeld Police Department
In the early hours of Sunday, 07.09.2025, a suspected arson case occurred in a residential building in Lage, Germany. The family living on the ground floor was awakened by a loud noise and discovered a fire on the upper floor of the house.
Fortunately, the family and the residents of the upper floors, who were not at home at the time, escaped the incident unharmed. The fire, which broke out around 2:50 AM, quickly spread, resulting in the complete destruction of the upper floor and attic.

The homicide unit "Gericht" is involved in the investigation, as the incident is being treated as a case of attempted manslaughter in conjunction with arson, as people were present in the building during the fire.

The Bielefeld Police have arrested a 20-year-old suspect from Lage provisionally.
