Fire incident reported in a workshop, resulting in minor injuries to a single individual

In the heart of Moenchengladbach, a fire broke out in a carpentry workshop located in the basement of a bus depot and workshop building on Friday morning at 11:00 AM. The City of Moenchengladbach's Fire Department swiftly responded to the incident, thanks to the automatic fire alarm system.

Upon arrival, employees reported the fire to the first responders. One employee had already used a fire extinguisher before the fire department arrived, but sustained a minor burn on his arm. The rescue service examined and treated the employee on-site, and hospital transport was not required.

The operation, which took place on Rheinstraße, involved several units. Fire and rescue stations I (Neuwerk) and III (Rheydt) were on the scene, along with a turntable ladder from the Technical and Logistics Centre (Holt), the units Rheydt, Giesenkirchen, the information and communication unit of the volunteer fire department, two rescue vehicles, a paramedic, and the command service of the professional fire department, with Operation Commander Brandamtmann Thomas Mandrossa.

The fire department entered the smoke-filled building with a team in breathing apparatus and brought the fire under control. Any remaining hotspots were extinguished, and a collection tank for affected sawdust was moved outside. The building was then ventilated to ensure the complete elimination of smoke and fumes.
