German Forest Fire Module Concludes Deployment in Spain, Moves to New Location

The German Forest Fire Module's deployment in Spain, which began in the northern area of a forest fire in Aldeanueva de Camino, is set to conclude at the beginning of the following week. The deployment, which covered approximately 300 km of driving distance, was led by the German Forest Fire Module on the third day.

Throughout the day, several thousand square meters of area were controlled and treated. Smoke plumes in the undergrowth indicated fires on the ground, and the fire intensity in this area was recorded as the greatest in recent days. The accompanying tank extinguishing vehicles demonstrated their high deployment value.

On Friday, it became apparent that the forest fire was largely extinguished. However, the fires in the regions of Galicia and Castile and León continue to spread strongly. As a result, on Saturday early morning, firefighters and rescue personnel from Mallorca and the neighboring islands will support a new wildfire situation in the province of Castile and León, after the German forces ended their deployments near Aldeanueva de Camino.

The deployment forces had to navigate through partly steep, hilly terrain, and the dismantling of the field camp began on Friday and was largely completed by evening. After the deployment ends, the return journey to Germany will take place.

The new location for the German Forest Fire Module is in the city of Puebla de Sanabria, where a field camp for the new deployment will be established. It's important to note that there is no relaxation of the forest fire situation in the regions of Galicia and Castile and León.

For further information, contact the Fire and Rescue Service Bonn Press Office. Temperatures were around 30°C and sunlight intensity was high during the deployment, underscoring the challenging conditions faced by the German forces. Despite these challenges, they managed to control and treat a significant area, demonstrating the value of their deployment.
