In the picturesque town of Oletta, Corsica, a fierce wildfire was brought under control on Saturday evening, 30th August, 2021. The operation, which mobilised a significant number of firefighters and aerial support, was a testament to the resilience and quick response of the emergency services.

Despite winds reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h, the fire's rapid spread was halted. The ground forces, comprising approximately 100 to 115 firefighters, worked tirelessly to contain the blaze. Their efforts were bolstered by aerial support, with two Canadair planes, one Dash, and two water-bombing helicopters providing vital assistance.

Lieutenant-Colonel Jean-Noël Rigot oversaw the operation's details, ensuring that every aspect was managed effectively. Unfortunately, the names of the fire brigade leaders involved in the firefighting attempt on this evening are not publicly available.

Despite the intensity of the fire, no threatened homes were affected. This can be attributed to the prompt action taken by the emergency services and the effective coordination of their efforts.
