Venture Capital Firms Move into SparkHaus; Open House Scheduled for September 22nd

Five venture capital companies are planning to move into SparkHaus; an open house event is scheduled for September 22nd.

SparkHaus, a new hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in Northern Kentucky, is set to welcome five venture capital firms that will bring not only capital but also deep expertise, networks, and mentorship to its ecosystem.

Located at 727 Madison Avenue in Covington, SparkHaus is a partnership between Kenton County, the Northern Kentucky Port Authority, and Blue North. It will serve as a one-stop shop for Northern Kentucky's entrepreneurs, offering resources for launching community-changing companies.

Among the five firms moving into SparkHaus are eGateway Capital, Keyhorse Capital, Fireroad Ventures, Commonwealth Seed Capital, and the Kentucky Angel Collective.

eGateway Capital, Kentucky's largest venture capital firm with $120 million raised, is a venture capital firm focused on technology and innovation, investing in late-stage venture and early growth-stage companies with global potential.

Commonwealth Seed Capital, a Kentucky-based venture fund, invests in early-stage technology companies driving innovation and economic development within the Commonwealth. To date, it has invested more than $40 million in Kentucky businesses.

Fireroad Ventures, a pre-seed fund, backs founders building applied AI and automation solutions for human-centric businesses. Its team has decades of operator experience and focuses on hands-on support and founder well-being. The inaugural $5 million fund of Fireroad Ventures closed last year.

Keyhorse Capital is an initiative of the Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC) that invests in seed and early-stage venture capital to support entrepreneurs in Kentucky. It is one of the most active seed funds in the region and is supported by the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.

The Kentucky Angel Collective, a network of angel investors, officially launched in June 2025. It is committed to supporting Kentucky entrepreneurs, providing early funding and mentorship to help founders turn ideas into businesses.

Connetic Ventures, located just across the street from SparkHaus, will have a routine presence within the space as a founding sponsor and corporate coworking member. The founders of Connetic Ventures are Benedikt Franke, Jan Neumann, and Matthias Rosenbauer. Connetic Ventures uses its own artificial intelligence software, Wendal, to remove bias in startup evaluation and funding.

SparkHaus's Executive Director, Dave Knox, stated that the presence of these firms will accelerate growth across Northern Kentucky and beyond. Tenants will begin moving into SparkHaus on Sept. 8, and a grand opening celebration is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 22. A link for event registration is provided.

Together, these firms collectively represent a diverse mix of investors dedicated to fueling startup growth across the region. The arrival of these venture capital firms is a significant step forward in establishing SparkHaus as a key player in Northern Kentucky's innovation and entrepreneurship landscape.
