NFL Season Kicks Off with Exciting Matchups and Revenge Games
The 2023 NFL season is upon us, and football fans are eagerly anticipating the action. With the season starting with 16 games over four days, the excitement begins on Thursday night as the Philadelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys.
One team that is looking forward to the new season is the San Francisco 49ers. Finishing last in the NFC West last season, they have the easiest schedule in the NFL this year. However, the 49ers have a history of either making the NFC Championship Game or not making the playoffs at all over the last 22 years.
Elsewhere, the Buffalo Bills are the odds-on favorites to win the Super Bowl this season. The Bills, who have never won the Super Bowl and are one of 12 NFL teams without a Super Bowl victory, will be looking to change that this year.
Another team to watch is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have a new quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, who will turn 42 in December, making him one of the oldest quarterbacks to have started 10 or more games in the NFL, will be joined by key teammates like wide receivers Calvin Austin III and D.K. Metcalf, and tight end Jonnu Smith.
Rodgers will have a chance to play a revenge game against his former team, the Green Bay Packers, who traded him to the New York Jets in the offseason. Rodgers' first game with the Steelers will be against his former team, as they face the Jets in their first game of the season.
Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals are looking to end their playoff drought after missing the postseason the past two seasons. Coach Zac Taylor had the Bengals starters playing more during the preseason to prepare for Week One against the Browns. However, the Bengals have struggled to start their seasons in recent years, going 0-2 or 0-3 over the last three seasons.
There will also be some intriguing matchups this season, such as the second game of the season between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil. Additionally, the Cowboys traded All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Packers last week, which could shake up the balance of power in the NFC.
Finally, fantasy football enthusiasts may want to keep an eye on Jerome Ford, the Browns running back, who is rostered in about 70% of ESPN leagues and could be a good choice against the Cincinnati Bengals' weak defense.
The 2023 NFL season promises to be an exciting one, with new faces in new places, revenge games, and intriguing matchups. Football fans are in for a treat!
