Ford Everest awarded as the top Large SUV of 2024 by the Australian Automobile Association's Car of the Year (Coty) Awards.

The Ford Everest has made a triumphant return as the AA Driven Car of the Year for 2024, securing victories in the Large SUV, Passenger, and overall winner categories. This impressive feat marks the Everest's second consecutive win in the Large SUV class.

The Large SUV class, which includes five-, six-, and seven-seat SUVs, some of which have crossed over into the Luxury sector, is known for being the ultimate all-rounder. It offers size, practicality, towing capacity, off-road capabilities, and competitive performance against rivals. Four new models have entered the Large SUV class over the past two years, but the Ford Everest remains the favourite.

Despite its size and strength, the Everest boasts reasonable economy, making it a practical choice for families. The base model Trend, starting at $75k, comes with a lot of equipment, even in its lower price range. It features an 8-way power driver's seat and 18-inch wheels.

The Everest's suspension is designed for family/passenger use, making it a joy to drive around town. The vehicle is available in four main models: Trend, Sport, Wildtrak, and Platinum. The top two models use a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine, producing 184kW and 600Nm. These top models also feature 20- and 21-inch alloys.

The top models of Everest offer a range of comfort and luxury features, including heated and cooled front seats, as well as heated second-row seats. As a true 4WD SUV, the Everest also boasts a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes and seating for seven passengers.

In the Luxury SUV segment for 2024, the 2024 Lexus GX and the 2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge are notable contenders, offering advanced luxury SUVs for that model year. However, the Ford Everest's balance of functionality and luxury has earned it the top spot in the Large SUV class.
