Ford Prolongs Free In-Home Electric Vehicle Charger Offer Until March
Ford Motor Co. has extended the 'Ford Power Promise' promotion for electric vehicle (EV) customers, offering a complimentary home charger and free standard installation, through March 31, 2023.
The promotion applies to a retail purchase or lease of a 2024 or 2025 model year F-150 Lightning pickup, Mustang Mach-E, and Ford E-Transit cargo van. With this offer, EV owners can now enjoy the convenience of "filling up at home" and potential gas savings from driving an EV.
The home charger in question is the residential Connected Charge Station, priced at $799 according to Ford's website. This charger, designed for the Mach-E and E-Transit, is a crucial component of the 'Ford Power Promise' program, which aims to boost EV adoption.
The home charger, along with the promotion, grants EV customers access to the BlueOval Charge Network. This network, which includes locations from Electrify America and Tesla Supercharger, features "plug and charge" functions, offering EV owners a seamless charging experience.
Ford has also established a dedicated team of advisors to provide charging support to its EV customers. The company offers a North American Charging Standard adapter for customers to access Tesla Superchargers, further expanding the charging network available to Ford EV owners.
The BlueOval charging network provides charger locations and directions via the vehicle's touchscreen, making it easy for EV owners to find charging stations. Customers can use the BlueOval charging card to tap and pay for charging, providing a convenient payment method.
The 'Ford Power Promise' program includes an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on the vehicle's high-voltage battery pack, offering peace of mind to EV owners. The program also offers complimentary roadside assistance, ensuring that help is never far away.
Jim Farley, Ford's CEO, announced on LinkedIn that Ford is including a home charger with EV vehicles to make EV ownership easier. The move comes as concerns about residential and public charging, as well as ownership costs, are considered to be one of the barriers to more widespread EV adoption.
According to J.D. Power's 2024 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience Home Charging Study, EV owners remain skeptical about public charging but are increasingly more satisfied with the home charging experience. The 'Ford Power Promise' program seems to be addressing these concerns, providing EV owners with a reliable and convenient charging solution at home.
The extension of the 'Ford Power Promise' promotion is a testament to Ford's commitment to making EV ownership more accessible and convenient for its customers. With the promotion, Ford is demonstrating its dedication to overcoming the challenges associated with EV adoption and providing a seamless EV ownership experience.
