Nottingham Forest has made another significant addition to their squad with the signing of Douglas Luiz on a season-long loan from Juventus. Ross Wilson, the club's chief football officer, has stated that the Brazilian midfielder will significantly improve the team.
Douglas Luiz, a seasoned player with experience at the highest level and in elite European competition, joins Nottingham Forest after a £44.2m move from Aston Villa ahead of the 2024-25 season. His addition is expected to bring quality to the group.
Despite scoring nine times and providing five assists in his final league campaign with Aston Villa, Douglas Luiz failed to directly contribute to a goal for Juventus in his 19 league appearances, starting only three matches. However, Nottingham Forest is confident that he will be warmly welcomed by everyone at the club and will understand the demands of the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito recently expressed frustration over the lack of signings this summer. However, the signing of Douglas Luiz marks another successful addition to the squad in the past few weeks, following the arrivals of James McAtee, Omari Hutchinson, and Arnaud Kalimuendo.
Douglas Luiz's loan deal with Nottingham Forest includes a conditional obligation for the Premier League club to make the transfer permanent next summer. Ross Wilson did not mention any conditions regarding the permanency of the loan deal.
Douglas Luiz spent two seasons at Aston Villa under the guidance of Dean Smith before his move to Juventus. With his experience and talent, Forest fans are eager to see what he can bring to the team in the upcoming season.
