Forest workers in Kamchatka receive training for forestry duties
Starting from March 1, 2025, a significant shift will take place in the forest management sector of Kamchatka Krai, Russia. Only specialists who are included in the federal registry, maintained by Rosleshoz, will be legally allowed to perform forest cutting and assessment work.
The training and certification of these forest management specialists is the responsibility of the Kamchatka State Technical University. The training program, focusing on forest cutting and assessment, is a mandatory requirement for certification and inclusion in the federal registry.
The registry grants the right to perform and provide services for forest cutting and assessment to both individuals and legal entities. This means that both private individuals and businesses will need to ensure they are listed in the registry to continue their forest management activities.
It is essential to note that the "Protection of Kamchatka Forests" autonomous institution is not responsible for forest cutting and assessment for citizens who are harvesting wood for personal use or forest conservation activities. For such cases, the "Kamchatka Forestries" state institution will continue to handle these tasks. The "Kamchatka Forestries" institution, however, is not involved in commercial forest cutting and assessment activities.
On the other hand, the "Protection of Kamchatka Forests" autonomous institution provides these services on a commercial basis. As of today, 84 forest management specialists from Kamchatka Krai have completed the training and are ready to offer their services. Information about certified specialists is available on the official Rosleshoz website, ensuring transparency and accountability in the forest management sector.
To ensure the registry remains up-to-date, any changes made to it are reflected on the Rosleshoz website within five working days. This timely update will help maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the federal registry.
As of March 1, 2025, all forest cutting and assessment work must be performed by specialists listed in the federal registry. This new regulation aims to improve the management and conservation of Kamchatka's valuable forest resources.
