Formula One Race: Alpine Team Frustration at Austin Grand Prix - Mick Schumacher's Vehicle Overtaken on Four Occasions

In the recent World Endurance Championship (WEC) race held at the Circuit of the Americas, the Alpine team faced a challenging outing, delivering their weakest performance of the season. The race, held on a soaked track, was a struggle for Alpine, as they rarely encounter rainy conditions in the WEC.

The Alpine team, who had shown promise with a good qualifying position, experienced frustration due to their poor performance in the wet conditions. The #35 crew, despite their efforts, finished 11th, 1:40 behind the winning Penske-Porsche. The #36 crew, with drivers Jules Gounon and Mick Schumacher, fared no better, finishing four laps down.

The race began on a disastrous note for the Alpine team. Fred Makowiecki, the starting driver of the #36 Alpine, crashed early in the race due to aquaplaning. His teammate, Gounon, who took over for the #36 team, had to retire due to a collision caused by Makowiecki. Makowiecki later apologized for his crash, stating he lost control without warning.

Schumacher, who took over for the #36 team, experienced an eight-minute delay in the pits due to a technical problem, making the Alpine undriveable. When the track dried, Alpine was able to pick up pace, but it was too late to make a significant impact. The gap between Alpine and the other cars increased during the race, leading to frustration within the team.

Despite the setbacks, the Alpine team remains optimistic. Alpine team principal Philippe Sinault stated that the car was set up for dry conditions at the start of the race. The team will analyze their mistakes from the Austin race to prepare for the next race in Fuji, which often experiences rain. Alpine will aim to improve their handling of rainy conditions in the upcoming Fuji race.

The next WEC race is scheduled for Fuji on 28 September 2025. The Alpine team is determined to learn from their experiences in Austin and come back stronger in Fuji. With the right adjustments and preparations, they hope to deliver a better performance and challenge for victory in the wet conditions.
