In a recent turn of events, both Fortnite and Roblox have made significant changes to their community standards, addressing concerns about inappropriate content.

Fortnite, the popular battle royale game developed by Epic Games, has taken steps to ban "sexually suggestive content or behavior" in avatars, emotes, and settings. This decision comes after a series of emote combinations were found to lead to sexually suggestive scenarios within the game. Examples of such emotes include Party Hips, Bring It Around, Ride The Pony, and certain Sabrine Carpenter emotes.

Players attempting to use suggestive emotes near another player will now see their character shake its head and refuse. This move is seen as a response to the increased scrutiny that Fortnite has been facing, particularly due to a legal action filed against the game over child safety concerns in Louisiana.

Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite, have not made an official statement regarding a potential response to the scrutiny they are facing. Similarly, there is no official update from Epic Games about the ban on NSFW emotes.

Roblox, another popular online gaming platform, has also updated its community standards to align with Fortnite's new approach. This update might be a response to the scrutiny that Roblox is facing due to the legal action filed against the game. No official statement has been made by Epic Games regarding a potential response to the scrutiny that Roblox is facing.

Meanwhile, virtual pop star Hatsune Miku has announced a real-world Pokeฬmon crossover concert set to take place next year, providing a welcome distraction from the ongoing discussions about inappropriate content in online gaming.

The latest Fortnite update has also seen the removal of a number of confrontational emotes, which some fans had mixed responses to. One user suggested removing suggestive emotes altogether and sticking to pure violence, while another user argued that censorship wouldn't solve the issue and that spaces encouraging such behavior should be removed instead.

Last year, Epic Games introduced a feature allowing players to opt out of confrontational emotes. In 2023, the Fortnite account stated that there is no "sex" in Fortnite Festival, referring to a PEGI ratings update regarding sexual references in lyrics. However, one fan described Fortnite's removal of NSFW content as "Sex in Fortnite is lost media."

As the gaming community continues to evolve, it's clear that developers are taking steps to ensure a safer and more appropriate environment for all players. These changes demonstrate a commitment to upholding community standards and addressing concerns about inappropriate content in online gaming.
