Forward-looking construction projects unveiled at the International Exhibition in Stuttgart, 2027
The International Building Exhibition 2027 (IBA'27) is set to take centre stage in Stuttgart, with the much-anticipated festival opening scheduled for May 9 at the Holzparkhaus in Wendlingen. In attendance will be Nicole Razavi, Minister for Regional Development and Housing (CDU), who will lend her support to the event.
The festival hub will be located at Kronprinzplatz in Stuttgart's city centre, where visitors can explore the "IBA'27 Friends Hub!" – a platform for workshops, guided tours, exhibitions, and more. The information centre in Calwer Straße 5 serves as the central hub for the festival, offering an overview of the projects and the festival programme.
For those eager to get a sneak peek into the festival programme, a progress report will be presented at the Long Night of Museums on March 22. Those who can't wait can already take a look at the IBA'27 stand during this event.
IBA'27 Intendant Andreas Hofer describes the festival as a platform for mutual learning, encouragement, and knowledge sharing. The focus will be on future-oriented materials, sustainable construction, and innovative impulses.
The festival will run from May 9 to 25, 2023, and will showcase a variety of projects. These include the transformation of the former Klett area in Stuttgart's west end, the Zero office building in Möhringen, the project of a housing cooperative in Münster, and the climate-friendly quarter development of the Badwiesen in Kirchheim-Plochingen.
Affordable housing, sustainable organic farming, and climate-adapted infrastructure will also be key themes of the festival. Minister President Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) has been won as patron for the festival, underscoring the event's importance.
Events by project partners and participants will be the focus of the festival, with an installation showing the transformation of a current parking garage into an office or residential building set to be a highlight of the opening ceremony.
The "IBA'27 Friends Hub!" will be open from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. during the Long Night of Museums for guided tours through the special exhibition at the central office in Calwer Straße 5. The festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of innovation, sustainability, and community spirit in Stuttgart.
