Four-legged companions seeking a new home at Munich animal sanctuary
In the heart of Munich, a shelter for animals provides a sanctuary for countless four-legged and small friends. Last year, the organisation saved 7,077 animals, including 438 dogs, 769 cats, and 959 small animals.
Among the dogs seeking a new home is Kyma, a friendly and people-oriented herding mix dog. Weighing 33 kg and standing at just under 50 cm tall at the shoulder, Kyma is a robust and energetic canine. Due to his energetic nature, it's crucial that he lives in a home where he can be both physically and mentally stimulated, ideally in a rural area with a garden. Experienced people who can consistently guide him will make a perfect match for Kyma. He gets along well with other dogs and could potentially be rehomed with an existing four-legged friend.
Kyma's territorial behaviour within the home is strong, and he may defend his territory against family members. However, once trust is gained, he shows friendliness, affection, playfulness, and cuddly behaviour.
Another resident at the shelter is Kyma's feline counterpart, Mila. This six-year-old cat was surrendered to the shelter due to her owners being overwhelmed. Mila dislikes children and needs a calm home with minimal stress. Apartment living is an option for Mila, but she requires plenty of space with retreat options. She is not compatible with other cats and should be kept as a single cat. When overwhelmed, threatened, or in unpleasant situations, Mila may show her claws. However, once she feels secure, she can be affectionate and playful.
Mila would greatly benefit from a connected balcony, providing fresh air and variety. A connected balcony would also be ideal for Falco, an approximately two-year-old cat who was handed in as a found cat at the shelter. Falco is very friendly and affectionate, but he can use both claws and teeth if not noticed or in stressful situations. Falco does not like children and requires a quiet home with a large apartment, plenty of space to play and climb, and numerous retreats.
Lastly, we have Molly, a mixed breed dog who will be six years old in November and weighs 19 kg with a shoulder height of 55 cm. Previous owners surrendered Molly to the shelter due to being overwhelmed. Molly initially displays uncertainty with strangers and can react defensively in overwhelming situations. However, once she gains trust, she shows friendliness, affection, playfulness, and cuddly behaviour. Molly needs clear and consistent leadership due to her energetic nature.
All of these animals, along with many more, are eagerly waiting for loving homes at Munich's animal shelter. If you are considering adding a new member to your family, consider giving one of these wonderful animals a chance. They each have unique personalities and needs, but with the right home, they can blossom into loving companions.
