France to Allocate €3 Billion, Plans to Install 40,000 High-Speed Charging Stations by 2028

France is at the forefront of Europe's electromobility revolution, thanks to the collective efforts of key companies that have committed over 4 billion euros since 2018 to expand the charging station network. While the specific companies involved are not readily available in search results, they have already invested over €1 billion in charging infrastructure and pledge an additional €3 billion by 2028 to expand the network.

This collaborative initiative, known as Charge France, unites industry leaders such as Allego, Atlante, ChargePoint, ChargeGuru, Driveco, Electra, e-Totem, ENGIE Vianeo, Fastned, IONITY, IZIVIA, Powerdot, and Zunder France. The Charge France Board of Directors consists of top executives from leading Charge Point Operators.

Over the past two years, France has seen a 115% increase in ultra-fast charging infrastructure, making it the fastest-growing EV charging market in Europe. This growth is set to continue, as Charge France aims to quadruple the number of ultra-fast charging stations in France by 2028.

Charge France is shaping a future where electric vehicle (EV) drivers benefit from a seamless, reliable, and high-powered charging network. To achieve this, they plan to deploy more high-power chargers along highways and in urban areas.

In addition to infrastructure expansion, Charge France has outlined three additional priorities for the success of transport electrification:

  1. A stable regulatory framework to support the transition to electric mobility, emphasized by Charge France, represented by Brieuc de Tonquédec.
  2. The development of a comprehensive charging network, ensuring EV drivers have access to charging stations wherever they go.
  3. The promotion of EV adoption through advocacy and education, making electric vehicles a viable and attractive choice for more people.

France and Europe are transitioning to electric mobility with Charge France playing a significant role. With a clear roadmap, strong industry commitment, and the right regulatory conditions, France is poised to remain at the forefront of this revolution.

Since 2018, EVBoosters has been the trusted executive search partner for powering EV Charging Networks in Europe, helping them scale by recruiting leaders and experts who drive growth.

Charge France's investment in France's charging infrastructure will contribute to a cleaner, greener future, supporting the transition to electric mobility and a more sustainable transportation system.
