France's rugby team, the XV, handily defeated Brazil (84-5), securing their progression to the quarter-finals in the Rugby World Cup.

In the thrilling world of rugby, the French team has officially secured their place in the quarter-finals of the ongoing World Cup, following two victorious matches.

The journey to the quarter-finals began with a historic performance against Brazil, where the French XV demonstrated their technical and physical superiority, scoring an impressive 14 tries. This record-breaking feat equaled the previous record set by England against Samoa.

The match, held at the Sandy Park Stadium in Exeter, South West England on August 31st, saw a heavily revamped French lineup, with 11 changes. Despite the changes, the team maintained their formidable prowess, with eight different players scoring for the French team on the first eight tries before the end of the first period.

The first try of the match was scored by Emilie Boulard, marking her first match sheet in this World Cup. Bianca Silva responded for Brazil with the first try in their World Cup history, but it was not enough to deter the French team.

Marie Morland, making her first international appearance, made a memorable debut by scoring her first international try in less than 10 minutes (7th). The captain of the French XV, who had previously scored the first double of the match (45th), also contributed significantly to the team's victory.

In the second intense period, the French team scored 5 more tries, equaling the record of 14 tries scored by a team in a single match. This impressive display of rugby skills was a testament to the team's discipline and focus, as they followed the instructions of co-selector Gaeฬˆlle Mignot, who had emphasised the importance of scoring opportunities before the match.

The final Pool D group match was contested on September 7, 2023, in Northampton, where the French team will face South Africa in the final match to determine the top spot in the pool. The rain fell in the final ten minutes of the match, but it did not dampen the celebration of the French team's historic victory.

Emilie Boulard delivered a standout performance, contributing 2 tries, 171 meters, and 12 lineouts won. Pauline Bourdon Sansus also made her return after her suspension (12th), adding to the team's strength and determination.

As the World Cup progresses, the French team continues to impress, demonstrating their potential to become a formidable force in the quarter-finals and beyond.
