The Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), in partnership with the Embassy of Ukraine and the National Confederation for Women's Entrepreneurship (CONAF), has announced a significant initiative: a free Romanian language course program for Ukrainian citizens residing in Romania.

This program, running from September 29 to December 3, is not just about language learning but also about building real inclusion. Registration for the free courses will remain open until September 19, with details available on the ICR's website.

Liviu Sebastian Jicman, President of ICR, emphasizes the importance of Romanian language learning as a means of integration and cultural exchange between Romania and Ukraine. He stated that the language offers opportunities beyond Romania's borders, providing a chance for integration and a way of better understanding each other.

Cristina Chiriac, president of CONAF, shares this sentiment, emphasizing that integrating refugees can provide a workforce, trust, demographics, and stability. Ukrainian ambassador Ihor Prokopchuk welcomed the initiative, stating it would ease integration and strengthen European values shared by both countries.

ICR regularly runs language courses for foreigners in Romania and abroad, and this program is no exception. The courses are dedicated exclusively to Ukrainians residing in Romania, aiming to equip participants with essential language skills for everyday life, access to public services, and entry into the labor market.

On Romanian Language Day, celebrated annually on August 31, ICR hosts cultural events to promote Romanian as a language of identity and dialogue. This year, the launch of the free Romanian language course program for Ukrainian citizens coincides with Romanian Language Day, marking a significant milestone in promoting cultural exchange and integration.
