Fugitive from a Montana bar shooting, now facing four charges of homicide after being apprehended by authorities.

In the quiet town of Anaconda, Montana, a week-long manhunt came to an end on Aug. 8, as authorities apprehended Michael Paul Brown, the main suspect in a shooting incident that occurred on Aug. 1.

The incident took place at The Owl Bar, a local establishment in the heart of Anaconda, a town founded by a copper magnate in the late 1800s and home to approximately 9,000 people. The shooting resulted in four fatalities, for which Michael Paul Brown, who lived next to The Owl Bar, is now charged.

The initial district court appearance for Michael Paul Brown is scheduled for Sept. 3. He is being held on $2 million bail.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Michael Paul Brown allegedly stole a truck and abandoned it a few miles outside of town. He then evaded capture by hiding in nearby forests, moving locations while helicopters and drones circled overhead and officers and dogs searched on the ground.

Authorities have not disclosed a potential motive for the shooting, and the State Department of Justice is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. Investigators are also examining if Michael Paul Brown had contact with individuals or property owners while on the run.

Michael Paul Brown's niece has stated that he long struggled with mental illness. However, the Owl Bar owner was not aware of any conflicts between Michael Paul Brown and the victims.

Walter Hennessey, a lawyer, is representing Michael Paul Brown. Despite numerous attempts to contact him, Hennessey did not respond to telephone messages on Friday or Saturday. No available details about Hennessey's work as a lawyer for the suspect have been found in the provided search results.

Charges against Michael Paul Brown were posted on a court website on Aug. 7. On Aug. 8, he was found inside an unoccupied structure near a state highway, bringing an end to the week-long manhunt.

The conviction for murder in Montana, or deliberate homicide, is punishable by death. However, executions have been on hold since 2015 due to a court ruling regarding a drug used in lethal injections.

As the investigation continues, the community of Anaconda, with its iconic smelter stack though no longer operational, continues to grapple with the aftermath of this tragic incident.
