Fundraising athletic cyclist Skujiņš collects 3,200 euros for budding cyclists
In July, a campaign was launched to support the Latvian Youth Cycling Fund. The initiative, inspired by Toms Skujinš' third Olympic Games, invited the public to buy specially designed T-shirts and caps.
The aim of the campaign was twofold: to support the participation of young cyclists in international road races and to raise funds for the development of these young riders.
Toms Skujinš, a prominent figure in Latvian cycling, made a donation of €3,200 to the Latvian Youth Cycling Promotion Fund as a result of the campaign. Skujinš emphasized that the young cyclists deserve support, and he expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in the promotion and bought shirts.
For each unit sold during the campaign, Skujinš made an additional personal donation. The total donation made to the youth academy reached €3,200.
The funds from the campaign partially financed the participation of the Latvian boys' and girls' road cycling team in an international competition in Belgium. Part of the support will also be provided for the 2025 junior and youth national teams' starts in competitions in Europe.
The donation also supported the junior team's trip to compete in Italy. Skujinš stated that many people who bought the special fan shirts will now be very recognizable on the streets.
However, no new information about additional donations from Toms Skujinš was provided in this paragraph. What is certain is that the funds will aid in the growth and development of the next generation of Latvian cyclists, ensuring their continued success on the international stage.
