Funds needed for people affected by earthquake in Afghanistan

In the eastern Afghan provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar, a devastating earthquake has occurred, causing widespread damage and necessitating immediate aid for the affected people. Caritas International, the aid organisation of the German Caritas, is stepping up to provide emergency assistance.

Caritas International is a part of the Caritas association for the Diocese of Eichstätt. They are working tirelessly to seek access to the affected people and are collaborating with local partners in Afghanistan to distribute the aid.

The disaster has resulted in the destruction of whole villages in some places, leaving many families without homes. Muriel Schockenhoff, an Afghanistan expert at Caritas International, states that the need for aid is immense, with the affected families urgently requiring accommodation, medical help, food, and protection.

Caritas International is providing emergency aid funds totaling 80,000 euros for the victims of the earthquake in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces in Afghanistan. They are also providing immediate help for those affected through local partners such as Casa Sankara in Southern Italy and SOS Bihac in Bosnia, to whom donations and support are directly forwarded.

Donations can be made through several accounts: with Liga (IBAN DE94 7509 0300 0107 6173 13), Sparkasse Ingolstadt Eichstätt (IBAN DE54 7215 0000 0018 0100 33), and Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Bayern Mitte eG (IBAN DE66 7216 0818 0009 6010 07). For amounts of 300 euros or more, donors are asked to provide their name and full address on the transfer slip for the issuance of donation receipts. For amounts under 300 euros, the bank statement is sufficient for tax purposes.
