Garmin Launches the Instinct 3 Outdoor Smartwatch, Featuring an AMOLED Display Option
Garmin has announced the launch of the third generation of their popular smartwatch for outdoorsmen, the Instinct 3. The new devices are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The Instinct 3 comes in two versions: AMOLED and Solar, each available in both 45mm and 50mm case sizes. For users who prefer a 40mm case size, the Instinct E is an alternative. Unfortunately, the Instinct 3 is not available in a 40mm case size.
The Instinct 3 smartwatch-mode battery lives vary between the AMOLED and Solar versions. The Solar versions offer an impressive battery life of 28 days (45mm) and 40 days (50mm), with solar power providing virtually unlimited battery. On the other hand, the AMOLED versions offer a battery life of 18 days (45mm) and 24 days (50mm).
The AMOLED versions of the Instinct 3 are $50 more expensive than their Solar counterparts. Prices range from $400 to $500, with the AMOLED versions featuring a larger display size compared to the Solar versions and the Instinct 2. The AMOLED versions have a 1.2" display for the 45mm and a 1.3" display for the 50mm.
All Instinct 3 models are built to MIL-STD 810 standards for durability and feature a fiber-reinforced polymer case with an aluminum bezel. They also incorporate the new SatIQ GPS technology for intelligent GPS mode adjustment.
A notable addition to the Instinct 3 is the built-in LED flashlight. The devices are available in a total of 10 variants, with 5 of these variants being limited-edition colorways.
The thickness of the Instinct 3 watches has slightly increased, with the 45mm version at 14.9mm and the 50mm version at 14.5mm. The Solar versions have the same display diameter as the Instinct 2.
The Instinct 3 models have similar software features as their predecessors. The Instinct 3 is now available from Garmin's website for those eager to get their hands on the new smartwatch.
