Gasthaus Butz experiences shift in proprietorship in Wörth a.d. Danube

In the picturesque town of Wörth an der Donau, a new chapter begins for the historic Gasthaus Butz. Local entrepreneur Matthias Kulzer has taken over the business shares of Butz Operating GmbH and the associated properties, effective from September 1, 2025.

Mayor Josef Schütz warmly welcomed the new owner, expressing optimism about preserving tradition and setting fresh impulses for the future of the beloved inn. The district administrator, Tanja Schweiger, also expressed gratitude to all those involved, praising their great commitment in the interests of the district and the district hospital.

The Butz, a piece of Wörther history and identity, has been operating as a traditional inn for guests, including a butcher shop and guesthouse. The new owner, Matthias Kulzer, plans to revive the venue with more events, especially in the fields of culture and music, working with the existing team and some new additions.

The property transfer was originally planned for January 1, 2023, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and energy crisis. Despite the challenges, the initial financing, including interest, ancillary costs, and rent, has been repaid.

The district acquired land for hospital expansion in 2019, which included the Butz operating area. To ensure the continued operation of Butz, a joint operating GmbH was founded by the district and the city of Wörth a.d. Donau. Approximately 30 jobs have been secured through the joint operation, but no information has been provided about job security under the new ownership.

Matthias Kulzer expressed gratitude to the employees for their loyalty and commitment and looks forward to working with them. He also expressed interest in strengthening culture and music at the Butz, promising a vibrant future for this cherished Wörther establishment.
